Volunteer

Without volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to positively impact so many homeless youth in Baltimore County. If you are looking to get involved, these are the opportunities that we currently have a need for:

Volunteering within the local homeless shelters

We bring educational programs to children residing in local homeless shelters to allow them the opportunity to participate in meaningful, productive and empowering activities. Activities are health and wellness based and might include yoga, zumba, pound, lessons on self-esteem, decision making, conflict resolution and much more! Volunteering within the shelters requires a background check. Volunteering at the shelter would be available Monday-Friday and would include encouraging the kids in their activities/assisting with any jobs necessary on that particular night.

Produce Pickup

Every Monday night we have volunteers transport produce from 800 Kenilworth Drive, 21204 to the Eastside Shelter at 9150 Franklin Square Drive. Large SUVs or trucks are necessary as the load itself is large. There is no long-term commitment with this option. Any or all Mondays that you can do works for us! The opportunity takes about 1 hour round trip.

Resource Distribution

We work to deliver items to children in Baltimore/Harford County from Mondays-Wednesdays. Times vary based on the situation/delivery. Volunteers would report at a scheduled time to our E4L office located at 12037 BelAir Road, Suite B, Kingsville 21087 to pick up items for delivery and deliver to a location in Baltimore/Harford County.

Resource Drives

We are ALWAYS in need of certain items year-round, both for the office and for the shelters we serve. If you are with a group, team, troop, etc. and have the means to run a drive, this could definitely be an opportunity for you! The items always needed include personal care items (travel sized preferred), towels, washcloths and diapers. During the summer, we could also use paper bag donations as well as healthy snack bags (water, fruits, veggies, snacks, etc.). These summer donations will be used for our annual Camp Quest summer camp.

Committees for Events and Fundraising

We have many events year-round (including but not limited to) the Holiday Gift Drive, Penguin Plunge, Gala, Camp Quest and the Back-to-School Drive. Those events are organized and ran by volunteers. Volunteering for events would look different depending on the event, however, one could expect to manage excel spreadsheets, be a point-of-contact through email, and/or provide day-of support for the event. You can learn more about our annual fundraisers and events that always need volunteers seasonally here.

Ignite

Join the 'Ignite' sessions as an adult volunteer and be part of the magic of positive change. At Empower4Life, we believe in the collective power of our community. By participating in 'Ignite,' you'll have the chance to support and guide young hearts as they engage in meaningful activities. Your involvement helps foster a sense of kindness and empowerment among our youth. Join us in making a difference and becoming a source of inspiration for the changemakers of tomorrow. Together, we'll light up our community one small act at a time.

Camp Quest

We run an annual summer camp which allows us to bring our programming to one of our shelters we support in Harford County. During camp we engage in activities on site (art/crafts, music, sports, teambuilding, etc) and we take field trips (hiking, fishing, sailing, etc). Volunteers are needed in multiple capacities, so if you feel this is an option for you, we can try to find a job that meets your strengths!
