Helping Shelters Through the Pandemic
I spoke to the director of homeless services yesterday for CAN. Among many other programs, they run/operate the largest family shelter in Baltimore County (Eastside in Rosedale) and are in need now more than ever.
Empower4Life delivers about 300 pounds of food to this shelter every Monday night throughout the year to get them through the week, but it has been cancelled indefinitely because the shelves of our partner store are empty. With the children ‘home’ all day their needs are greater than ever. Their current shortage is: eggs, juice boxes, diapers size 4 & 5 and snacks for children. To stay in line with our mission, we need to provide healthier snacks for the children (granola bars, etc) to get them through. They also put in a special request for board games (gently used are happily accepted).
Thanks so much for the support in response about the kids living in shelters right now and our desire to assist in getting them through this pandemic. This is about 25% of what has come in (all I could squeeze in my car). Healthy snacks, juice, eggs, diapers & games. the rest coming next week. I was also pleased to see a screening area setup out front.
